Senator Leila de Lima on Tuesday dismissed the supposed complaint to be filed against her by alleged pork scam queen Janet Lim-Napoles as “worthless words,” saying only “fools” will believe her accusations.</div>

Napoles, according to Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II, is set to file charges against Senators De Lima, Antonio Trillanes IV, and Franklin Dirlon, as well as former Budget secretary Florencio “Butch” Abad over the multi-billion priority development assistance fund (PDAF) scam.</div>

“Only fools will still believe Secretary Aguirre and Janet Lim Napoles,” De Lima said in a statement. “The woman who stole billions in the PDAF Scam is now being glorified to turn state witness against targeted opposition personalities.”</div>

“What makes her anticipated complaint different from the lies she said in the past? A new-found morality? More like the promise of freedom from the Sandiganbayan trial where she is accused of plunder. Napoles has apparently cut a deal with the devils of this regime,” De Lima, a staunch critic of Duterte, said.</div>

Aguirre earlier said Napoles may be used as a witness in a fresh probe into the PDAF scandal, following her acquittal by the Court of Appeals from the serious illegal detention case filed against her by her former aide, Benhur Luy.</div>

De Lima said the Department of Justice (DOJ) under Aguirre has turned into a department “for the persecution of the opposition and the accompanying fabrication of charges.”</div>

“There is no doubt about that. Partnerships with criminals no longer surprise us, this government having embraced criminality and impunity, its president being a mass murderer,” she said.</div>

“Expect a complaint substantiated with nothing but Napoles's worthless words, and Aguirre's reputation for fake accusations. Former budget secretary Florencio Abad and Senators Antonio Trillanes, Leila de Lima and Franklin Drilon, will soon face charges in connection to the PHP10-billion (USD200-million) pork barrel scam, Justice Vitaliano Aguirre II revealed Monday.<br />

Aguirre said the charges will be filed in the coming days by businesswoman Janet Lim Napoles, the alleged brains behind the scam that funneled lawmakers’ Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) into bogus non-government organizations.<br />

“Nakausap ko na po actually ang kanyang lawyer. Ang sabi niya, in a few days, maglalabas na sila ng kaukulang habla at ifa-file ata nila iyun sa DOJ,” Aguirre said in a phone interview with morning talk show “Umagang Kay Ganda.”(I have talked with her lawyer. He said, in a few days, they will file charges before the DOJ)</blockquote>

(They will prioritize several prominent personalities involved in the scam. Among those mentioned were Secretary Abad, as well as Senators Trillanes, de Lima and former Senate president Drilon.)<br />

Last May, the Court of Appeals acquitted Napoles in the alleged illegal detention of her distant relative and corruption whistleblower Benhur Luy.<br />

The administration then floated the idea of turning Napoles into a state witness in its re-investigation of PDAF misuse under the Aquino government.<br />
<br />
President Rodrigo Duterte has accused the previous administration of shielding its allies from the pork barrel raps.<br />
<br />
Aguirre however denied that the new pork barrel probe was a ploy to discredit previous administration officials.<br />

“Iyan lamang ay pagpapatupad ng katarungan sapagkat kung ikaw ay nagkasala, at alam naman natin na kung ikaw ang namuno lalong-lalo na sa napakalaking pag-rape sa ating kabang bayan, wala pong paghihiganti po,” the Justice secretary said. He also guaranteed that Napoles will not be absolved from her separate plunder raps if and when she turns state witness in the PDAF investigation.<br />
