Cebu Provincial Police Director Senior Superintendent Clifford Gairanod confirmed that Bogo SWAT member PO2 Ronjie Nadora, 36, was not only a drug user but also a drug protector.
Gairanod said Nadora has been included in the watch list of police officers engaged in illegal drugs.
He said they received reports from concerned citizens that Nadora served as an escort in the delivery of illegal drugs to the house of a certain Neil Enriquez to make sure that it will arrive safely.
Nadora was arrested during the buy-bust operation against Enriquez, 38, in Sitio Harag, Barangay Talavera, Toledo City.
Enriquez was the subject of the police operation.According to Gairanod, Enriquez was wearing a SWAT shirt with the name of Nadora when caught by the police inside the house of the subject, together with the SWAT officer.
Aside from the two, Richard Flores, 30, and Nanding Abella, 23, were also arrested for allegedly using drugs with Nadora.
Recovered from the suspects were a .357 revolver with four live ammunitions, an improvised shotgun with four live ammunitions and 19 small sachets believed to contain shabu.
Nadora is an active member of the Philippine National Police (PNP) and assigned in Bogo City as part of SWAT, right after he was relieved from Naga City in Cebu.
The arrested police officer will be facing violation of Section 6 of RA 9165 for visiting a drug den. Nadora will also be facing administrative charges.
Enriquez and the rest will also be charged Section 11 and 12 of RA 9165.
Meanwhile, Gairanod added that there are still other police officers in the watch list of Cebu Provincial Police Officer who are under surveillance.
