MANILA, Philippines — Eight heads of state and a state counsellor will fly to Manila this week to attend the 30th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit.

Included in the final list of leaders who will attend the meeting are Brunei Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah,  Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen, Indonesian President Joko Widodo, Laos President Bounnhang Vorachith, Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak, Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, Thailand Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha and Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc.

Myanmar State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi, who is also Foreign minister, will attend the summit on behalf of President U Htin Kyaw. A state counsellor is the de facto head of the Myanmar government and performs similar functions to a prime minister.

Bearing the theme "Partnering for Change, Engaging the World," the leaders of the 10-member regional bloc will discuss pressing regional and international issues.

As chair of the 30th ASEAN Summit, President Rodrigo Duterte will lead the retreat and host a gala dinner for the leaders and delegates on April 29. — Infographic by Jonathan Asuncion
