A 17-year-old girl was rescued from his father, who allegedly made her his sex slave for almost 10 years, in Negros Oriental on Friday afternoon.

The girl was rescued by joint teams from the Commission on Human Rights (CHR), Department of Social Welfare and Development and members of the Zamboanguita police from their house.

The local police said the victim's father attempted to take his firearm — a .38 revolver — when they arrived at his residence to arrest him.

Dr. Jesus Cañete, CHR's director in Negros Oriental, said the rescue operation was conducted after the girl sent them a letter detailing how her father used her as a sex slave for almost a decade.

"According to her, her father started raping here in 2007. So that [was] ten years ago. She is seventeen ngayon, so, ilang taon lang siya noon, seven years siya at that time, seven years old or eight years old?" Cañete said.

He said that according to the girl, her father would rape her inside their house and at a plantation near their residence.

"Sa loob mismo ng kanilang bahay ito nangyari, ayon sa kaniya. Minsan sa Nepa plantation. In fact, two days ago tinangka na naman sana siyang kaladkarin sa Nepa plantation but she was able to break free," he said.

Cañete said that the girl kept her father's crime from their family out of fear for their safety.

"Tinanong natin siya kung aware ba ang kaniyang mga kapamilya? Ang sabi niya hindi dahil hindi siya nagsasalita because her father threatened to kill all of them," the CHR official said.

The suspect, meanwhile, denied his daughter's allegations.

Charges of multiple counts of rape and illegal possession of firearms are being readied by the police against the suspect.
