A woman from Ohio was sentenced to 51 years in prison after she was found guilty of loaning her own daughter to a drug dealer in order to raise money for her drug addiction

A woman from Ohio was sentenced to 51 years in prison after she was found guilty of loaning her own daughter to a drug dealer in order to raise money for her drug addiction.

The judge who handled the case was aghast with the severity of the crime committed and called it the worst case she had seen.

“I can honestly say that, in three-and-a-half years on the bench, this is by far the worst thing that has come before this court” Judge Leslie Ghiz of Ohio’s Hamilton County Pleas Court said as she sentenced April Corcoran to 51 years to life in prison Tuesday, July 19.

32-year-old Corcoran pleaded guilty to letting a drug dealer rape her 11-year-old daughter in exchange for cash to feed her heroin addiction. She pleaded guilty to multiple counts of complicity to rape, human trafficking and child endangerment.

Judge Ghiz said Corcoran has not expressed any apologies to her daughter.

The alleged drug dealer, 40-year-old Shandell Willingham who raped and sodomized the girl, was also charged and is awaiting a hearing.

Every time the girl was brutalized, her mother would give her a little heroin as a “reward” for being a good girl, Assistant Hamilton County Prosecutor Katie Pridemore said.

“The daughter didn’t want it but she (Corcoran) said, ‘you’re a good girl. You did the right thing,’” Pridemore told the court.

As mentioned in the NDTV article dated July 20, according to the judge, the girl, who is now 13 years old and is living with her father and stepmother, is taking medication and undergoing medical care. It was her father who reported the case to authorities when his daughter came in to live with him in 2014.

Corcoran’s court-appointed lawyer, Atty. James Bogen, said that he was told his client used to be a very loving and caring parent before she became addicted to heroin.
