A 39-year-old man was caught taking upskirt videos and pictures with a miniscule camera attached inside his shoe. The camera was so small that it resembled a nail head. He was only caught after a few bystanders noticed his unusual actions.
“The camera was connected to his smartphone and he was recording it,” said Kota Setar OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Rozi Jidin.
After a short confrontation, bystanders decided to take action and gave him a beating. The 38-year-old woman didn’t even realize what the man was doing at first, until bystanders noticed and took action. The camera was too small to be discovered easily, but his actions gave him away.
The 39-year-old operations assistant in a government-linked company in Alor Setar will be investigated under the Penal Code for doing an obscene act in public under Section 294, which is punishable with up to three months’ jail, fine or both, or for using words or gestures to insult a person’s modesty under Section 509, which can lead to a jail term of up to five years, a fine or both.
