"The PET denied protestee Robredo's Motion for Reconsideration of the resolution to pay the cash deposit as ordered in its previous resolution dated March 21," Te said.
On April 12, the PET ordered Marcos and Robredo to pay a total of P81.46 million for their respective electoral protest and counter-protest.
In a resolution dated March 21 but released on April 10, the PET ordered Marcos to deposit a total of P66,023,000 for the 132,446 precincts his camp was questioning. Robredo meanwhile was ordered to pay a total of P15,439,000 for the 31,278 precincts she was questioning in her electoral protest.
Robredo lawyer Romulo Macalintal said they have yet to receive a copy of the PET ruling.
"However, we respect the decision of PET and would like to reiterate Vice President Leni Robredo's willingness to comply with her obligation to pay the P8 million for her counter protest," he said, referring to the first tranche of payment.
Marcos made partial payment
Marcos paid a partial payment of P36 million to the Supreme Court on April 17 to cover his protest. The remaining balance, amounting to P30 million, has to be paid on or before July 14.
An open letter from Marcos supporters listed 40 donors who allegedly helped Marcos, whose family is accused of amassing billions of pesos of illegally-acquired wealth from 1965 to 1986, raise the first tranche of payment.
The PET, in denying Robredo's motion, ordered her to pay the cash deposit as stated in its resolution within five days upon her receipt of the resolution, according to Te.
"The PET directed protestee Robredo to pay the cash deposit as stated in this resolution within an unextendable period of 5 days from notice of resolution," Te said in the press briefing.
The PET also deferred action on the omnibus motion of Marcos to dismiss Robredo's counter-protest until she complies with the PET order.
