Duterte to ask Bato about MPD ‘secret cell’

President Rodrigo Duterte on Friday said he would ask PNP chief Director General Ronald "Bato" dela Rosa about the alleged hidden detention cell of the Manila Police District Station 1.

"I will look into this after -- this afternoon. I will call Bato," Duterte told reporters in a brief interview before the arrival of Indonesian Pres. Joko Widodo in Malacañang.

National Capital Region Police Office chief Dir. Oscar Albayalde said that he had ordered the administrative relief of the station commander Supt. Roberto Domingo as well as the entire Station Drug Enforcement Group.

Presidential spokesperson Ernesto Abella in a statement commended Albayalde for "acting decisively."

"The report of the investigation will be forthcoming, and only then do we release further comment on the matter," he said.
