The clandestine laboratory, which stands inside the 1.5 hectare property at the foot of Mt. Arayat, was identified as the largest factory of illegal drugs in the country which is said to be capable of producing around 400 kilos of methamphetamine hydrochloride or locally known as “shabu” per day.
Led by PDEA Deputy Director General for Operations Assistant Secretary Ricardo Quinto, authorities destroyed the P7.5-million worth of non-drug evidence found inside the facility.
This include various equipment such as the combustion tower set up, motor diesel generator, industrial chiller, power controllers, the seven industrial distillation set ups and a reaction mixer.
Quinto said the destruction was done to ensure that no materials or equipment seized during the discovery will be recycled by unscrupulous individuals pursuant to Section 21 of Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.
PDEA-Central Luzon director Juvenal Azurin, for his part, urged all officials and the public to join the quest for a drug—resistant and drug-free region.
“The discovery of the mega shabu laboratory is a clear manifestation of the local government unit’s commitment and active involvement in the campaign against the drug menace, which is worthy of emulation by others,” Azurin added.
Also present to witness the dismantling were Provincial Legal Officer Cecil Andin, who represented Governor Lilia Pineda, Mayor Emmanuel Alejandrino of Arayat, Police Senior Superintendent (PSSupt.) Ronald Llanera, Police Regional Office III Deputy Regional Director for Operations, PDEA Laboratory Service Director Belen Banog, and Regional Crime Laboratory Office Chief PSSupt. Romeo Aninag.
