President Rodrigo Duterte will soon disclose the names of 27 local officials allegedly linked to the illegal drug trade, his chief legal counsel said Tuesday.

“Hindi pa ba nilabas yung 27 names? My God, you will be shocked ... basta, [sa] LGUs (local government units) [sila],” presidential legal counsel Salvador Panelo told reporters.

“Basta ako marami akong may kakilala pero ilalabas niya raw, sabi niya either tonight or tomorrow,” Panelo added.
Asked whether there were mayors in Metro Manila involved, Panelo said: “Parang di ko natatandaan — puro probinsya e. May prominenteng pangalan.”

In his first week of presidency, Duterte named five active and retired police officials allegedly involved in the drug trade, and ordered them investigated by the National Police Commission.

The five officials have since denied the allegation.

Two days later, Duterte presented a chart of personalities that included Chinese drug lords, police officials, and local government officials who are allegedly into illegal drug operations based on intelligence information.

Duterte did not disclose any names of LGU officials at the time.

“They better come up with something really good. Maraming mayors dito. We have a mayor sa

Mindanao, puro mayor, may babae pa,” he added without elaborating,” Duterte said then.
