MANILA - The suspect in the road rage killing of a cyclist in Quiapo, Manila last Monday will receive "a villain's welcome" from no less than the chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP).

Vhon Tanto and PNP Chief General Ronald Dela Rosa.

In a press briefing on Friday, PNP Chief Director General Ronald "Bato" dela Rosa said Vhon Tanto, who was arrested in Masbate, will be brought to the Manila Police District (MPD) early morning on Saturday.

"Bukas pagdating niya dun, puntahan namin. We'll give him a villain's welcome, not a hero's welcome," Dela Rosa said.

"Ang villain's welcome is yung nakakamatay na mura, nakakamatay na tingin. Basta yung kung pwedeng matunaw na lang siya sa kinauupuan niya," he added.

"Hindi (literal na mamamatay). Kuwan lang, non-contact yun. Pero mas masakit yun," he quipped.

National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) Chief Oscar Albayalde said Tanto, escorted by authorities, will travel by land from Masbate tonight.

Tanto will be presented to the media at 7 a.m. Saturday.

Albayalde said charges of murder and frustrated murder will be filed against Tanto for killing cyclist Mark Vincent Geralde and wounding a bystander in a road rage incident.

CCTV footage showed Tanto, who was driving a red Hyundai Eon car, shooting Geralde several times following a fistfight.

Dela Rosa said in jest that he will teach Tanto how to throw good punches so he will no longer lose in a fistfight.

"Si Tanto, tuturuan ko yun ng boxing dahil mahina siya sa suntukan. Kaya bumunot siya ng baril dahil napahiya siya eh, nabugbog siya. Pasiga-siga tapos mahina pala sa suntukan. Turuan ko yun bukas ng tamang suntok, paano mag-boxing," the police chief said.
