Gilas Pilipinas on same bracket with China for 2017 FIBA Asia Cup group stage
Gilas Pilipinas landed in the same pool with hoops powerhouse China for the group stage of the 2017 FIBA Asia Cup, after the draw ceremony held on Tuesday in Lebanon.
The national men's basketball team won silver during its last match against China at the FIBA Asia 2015 finals.
Aside from China, the Philippines is under Group B with Middle Eastern countries Iraq and Qatar.

According to FIBA.com, the group stage will follow a round robin format. The top three teams of each group will proceed to a second phase.
From the quarterfinals onward, the tournament will be played on a knockout format.
The 2017 FIBA Asia Cup will be held on August 8-20 in Lebanon.
